Look for loons and kingfishers on the lakes and moose and bears in the woods. This lush old-growth forest is alive with songbirds, wildflowers, berries, and mushrooms. Your local guide will share stories about wildlife encounters, life in Talkeetna, and how the area’s Athabascan Native peoples thrived in this wild land. Trip Details
Length of trip: 2.5-3 hours
Terrain and gear: This hike is 3 miles on an established trail. Wear sturdy shoes. Bring rain gear, bottled water and dress for current weather conditions. Rain gear, day packs, and trekking poles are provided if needed.
Time: 6 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday; 1 p.m. Tuesday – Friday
(Pick up is available from Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, downtown Talkeetna, or guests may meet us at the trailhead.)
