Naturalist Hiking Guide

We look for professional guides with Alaska, guiding, and naturalist experience. Our guides lead nature walks and day hikes in the spectacular wilderness of Denali State Park, Alaska. Your clients are generally well educated, appreciative, and very interested in learning about nature and Alaska. The essence of this job is to give them a safe, fun, and authentic experience.

Applicants must be familiar with Alaskan flora and fauna, and have a genuine interest in learning more through our training and your independent study. Guides must be physically fit, certified in first aid and CPR, and should be familiar with Leave No Trace skills and ethics. This position involves a high degree of customer contact, so applicants should be outgoing, have a positive attitude, and be highly motivated and enthusiastic. You will also drive a 15-passenger van and must have no accidents or violations on your record for the last three years.

You will be based out of the River House guides residence within Denali State Park, which is fairly remote. Applicants should be highly responsible, mature, and self-sufficient. The hiking, fishing, canoeing, and wildlife viewing are fantastic, but there are few amenities or social outlets nearby. You may live in the park or commute from Talkeetna, a very fun town with a vibrant social scene, one hour from the park. You will need your own reliable transportation.

This job is an opportunity to work with great people in an amazing place, but it’s not for everyone. Do you have what it takes to be the next Alaska Nature Guide?
