Experience Alaska’s incredible beauty on a 2-mile nature walk in Denali State Park. Enjoy magnificent views of Byers Lake and surrounding mountains, learn about the area’s animal and plant life, and take home a healing salve made from native plants. Explore a log cabin that once belonged to a pioneering couple, and hear how this adventurous family survived the long winters in this beautiful setting. Guests may see nesting trumpeter swans, loons, eagles, or bears foraging for spawning salmon. The pace is comfortable, with frequent stops and photo opportunities. Each guest will take home a fragrant healing balm made from native plants.

Terrain and Gear: This walk is on a fairly level trail. Dress for Alaska’s variable weather conditions. Bring your camera and binoculars.

Meeting place and Time: 8 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. pick up at the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, or meet us at Byers Lake in Denali State Park at 8:15 a.m. and 5 p.m.
