South Denali Hike and Raft  ( June 1st – Sept. 13th)

Your full day of wilderness adventure starts with a scenic drive from Talkeetna to Denali State Park. There, we hike from lush boreal forest steadily up to treeline and beyond for spectacular panoramic views, including THE best views of Denali from any trail (weather permitting). Along the way, your experienced naturalist guide will share stories and insights about the area and its wildlife. Then enjoy a hearty lunch at the historic McKinley View Lodge, followed by a rafting trip back to Talkeetna. Relax and ride the glacial waters of the free-flowing Chulitna River under the care of your expert river guide. Take in stunning landscapes and scenery as you watch for the area's abundant wildlife all the way back to Talkeetna.

This combination trip is the best way to discover and experience all the South Denali area has to offer in a single day.

Trip Details

  • Length of Trip:

    Trip begins in Talkeetna at 8am. Trip ends at approximately 6pm in Talkeetna.
  • Terrain and Gear:

    The hike is approximately 6 miles with 1100 feet of elevation gain. Wear sturdy walking shoes, bring bottled water, and dress for the weather. The trail is not steep or difficult, but a long, steady climb makes this trip fairly strenuous. Routes may vary. All gear for the raft trip is provided.
  • Meeting Time and Place:

    Trip begins in Talkeetna at 8am. Trip ends at approximately 6pm in Talkeetna. June 1st – September 13th
  • Transportation:

    Trip includes pickup and drop off in downtown Talkeetna or the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.
  • Price:

    $299 per person, four person minimum.
